Investigating the UFO Wave of 1896 -1897
Beginning in late 1896 and continuing into 1897, a significant number of people report seeing “mystery airships” flying in the skies all across the United States. Though eye-witness accounts of these UFO sightings were heavily covered by local newspapers at the time, since their initial emergence in the late 19th century, the 1896-1897 UFO American UFO wave has received very little attention; and certainly hasn’t been examined with level of scrutiny found in post 1947 UFO reports.
Generally, the 1896-1897 UFO wave has been dismissed by many researchers as the product of “mass hysteria” or hoaxes perpetrated by “yellow journalism” of the 1890’s. However, in truth, there is presently insufficient evidence to conclude that a legitimate explanation for the “Great Airship Mystery” of the 1890’s has been achieved.
In effort to solve this perplexing mystery; by combing through historical resources and employing the latest technological advances, a few brave researchers who've chosen to chase the coyote's tail, have taken on the daunting task of trying to solve this 122-year mystery. A Comprehensive Statistical Analysis of Modern UFO Reports
Not since the 1951 analysis by The Battelle Memorial Institute – commonly referred today as the “Project Blue Book Special Report No. 14” – has there been a comprehensive statistical analysis of reported sightings of UFOs. our Foxes aims to change that.
Using some of the same methodologies employed researchers almost 70 years ago for Project Blue Book; Project Horus uses the latest data science technologies to actively extrapolate data from current UFO sighting reports to determine if statistically significant correlations exists that can help provide understanding to the UAP/UFO phenomena.
